hi, i realize this is an 'older' post but i have been reading your previuos posts over the last few days(? hours? i dont really know its vacation here and i have WAY too much time on my hands) but either way i wanted to let you know i am not a stalker ( ok maybe i am i guess i dont know the true meaning of the word) but i mean no harm. i cant remember how i came across your blog but.... here i am now. and honestly there are times i cant put together an intellegent sentance, just not right now. i grew up ' in the system' and find it interesting to hear/see your take on things. ok back to reading now. Rachael, get a lawyer ASAP. You are allowed to show up at every court hearing and tell the judge you are a willing family member. I don't know about other states but here family placements do NOT have to go through classes. I have seen workers half ass look for sufficient family though, so you will need to get a lawyer who will know all the paperwork that needs to be filled in order to get something done in regards to your sister's kids. Hi, I'm Rachael & I've only been lurking on your blog for a little over a month...I found you through that blog that hates you and has gotten into a couple in comment debates with you-I know, I am sorry..I don't follow her blog if it's any consolation..I found her when I was googling rules for family placement, she came up and after seeing that her site was not what I wanted I followed a post about you.

My sister's kids were taken 2 years ago, and another sister had been trying to get them out of foster care the entire time, then cps asked me and my husband if we were interested in taking one or two of the kids in a split placement. We agreed then got put thru tons of hoops for the last 6 months, then being told in september we need to be licensed as foster families before they would do a family placement with us, which would be another 6 month process. It has been incredibly frustrating-the kids ended up being pulled from their foster home in early September because of a mysterious bruise on the youngest and they were placed in a temporary (generally less than 2 weeks allowed) group shelter, even though both my sister and I have had several home inspections. Then when we were finally approved (for the second time) for off-site visits, the sw "forgot" to send the approval to the home-my sister called super PO'd and the sw told her oh well. We again questioned why we couldn't be granted temporary guardianship or custodians or whichever, were told sorry and that is when I searched the internet. ~Then a week later, without discussing with any of us, told the court that there was no permanent placement available and extended the kids' mom's case another 6 months with a new "final" termination date of next October. (This October was the second "final" tpr hearing).

We are no longer allowed visits at all with the kids.

Anyway, I am horrible with run-ons & blabbering-both of which I apologize for.

Oh, I suffered from infertility for 6+ years, was told I "might" have PCOS, and now have one kid and one on the way-both surprise ones considered I was told I probably wouldn't be able to have kids without fertility meds which are absolutely not covered by our insurance.

Jess, Hey girl! I'm sure R will pass with flying colors. Sorry to hear about having diabetes. Are you taking metformin/glucophage? That medication is sometimes used by those of us who have Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome and are prediabetic. It can help get the weight down and sugar in check which helps with conceiving. I had gestational diabetes with The Daughter and the food thing was hard but manageable. I wish you lots of luck. How are the animals? I heard from Meg a while back but have lost touch with her again. Thanks for your kind words and for always being there for me. I appreciate your friendship.

Lisa, Oh my gosh, yes I have got to learn to stop talking to caseworkers like they are my BFF. Great advice there. So far it seems we are back on track with the adoption. I agree with you about the online foster/adopt community ... it is so helpful.

Hi Lisa here usually lurking a couple of times a week. I found you through some other blog - it all started for me at Cindy's blog. I have 4 bio's, 2 fost/adopts that joined us at 6 & 9 years old and 2 grands that all live wth me. Started googling foster care and adoption when I felt like I needed more honest answers navigating the system and this community has been a godsend - some days just so I remember to be grateful that our adoption and placement has worked out with minimal problems. ( As in I thought I had attachment, behaviour problems until I started reading a bunch of these blogs and realized I just had age appropriate /situation appropriate issues. Besides that, you totally crack me up - your descriptions of events leave me laughing. Hoping your adoption works out well - I wrote one time before to say be careful about how much you share with your caseworkers - that was quite awhile ago though. Thanks for sharing the good and the bad!

Hi, love your blog. I am a fellow adoptive mom and I don't remember how I got to your blog, probably through someone else's blog about RAD or FAS or something. My 14yr old son (adopted 8 months ago) from Ukraine does not seem to have a lot of RAD issues, but after learning things about RAD, bipolar, ADHD, etc - boy does my husband ever have those symptoms! It's Jess...originally from SW....haven't been there in years since my husband has been a civilian for coming up on 6 years now. Even though we've never met in real life, you were one of those people that helped me though the hardest parts of dealing with deployments and the drama that goes along with it bearable. I valued your friendship and advice then and now...and even though we don't have SW to connect us anymore, I didn't want to just let our internet friendship die. So I lurk, just to feel connected, and sometimes post...to let you know I'm still here,,,reading,,,interested in your life.

The husband and I recently decided to start trying for kids, only to find out I'm diabetic, and need to get that under control before we really start trying. It's been a depressing realization, but I'm trying to deal with it and stay positive. The husband is about 3 weeks away from getting results from the California State Bar....so hopefully he passes and can be a big boy lawyer....because we need the money. lol. Anyway, that is all.

The transition was way easier than I thought it might be. He found a civilian job fairly quickly that has nothing to do with anything he did in the Army - not that there is a lot in the civilian world that would relate to what he did in the Army. He loves it, he's happy and now he's wondering why he didn't retire at 20. At least that way he would have had a healthy knee and could still walk the golf course.

Is it my IP that checks in a few times a day? Am I bored? Maybe, I'm stuck in a teeny tiny apartment a large city with toddlers waiting for the 80-some odd days to disappear and we can go home. Can I leave the house? Yep, but I don't want to...this place scares me and the few times I have tried to get out my confidence was burned by the jerks that live here. Am I spying? Totally not. It's Lindsay (from SW, but totally no spying/reporting back, haven't been to SW in a couple of years+). I totally lurk here (and check in at least once a day, lol, what can I say, I'm bored now that the kids are in school).
The boys are great, they're in 1st grade and JuniorKindy. My third babe (a boy, Logan), was born with UPD16 last year (a genetic thing from me, caused heart/lung/limb abnormalities) and passed away after a 2 month struggle with NICU, infections, breathing issues etc. We're pregnant again (13.5 weeks) and we're hoping all is well with this one, we have some testing coming up that will give us an answer one way or the other (hopefully). We had some issues getting PG with this one (I ended up on clomid for 4 cycles, I wasn't ovulating and hadn't had a period in almost a year when I started on the clomid).
Anyways, I've been meaning to email you to catch you up, but everytime I think of it I'm on the way out the door to one thing or the other (or its late and I should be in bed, lol). You can email me if you want (lindsay 0884 @ hotmail dot com)

Apparently there was an Operation Get Rid of AJD going on that I didn't know about officially until years later, but after DH ETS'd I didn't really feel that I had a reason to be on a MilSpouse board anymore. I just never logged back in, no fanfare or drama, but also didn't get contacts for people so lost touch with almost everyone. How are you? Still in the trenches?

I'm the mom of four: two bios, one of which is in Heaven ...born with Spina Bifida, a privilege to parent.....one of which is now 31,married and will probably never make me a grandma and that's okay. Two came via adoption, one daughter through domestic, open adoption at birth and the other one, our only boy, we met one snowy night in 2000 in Sumy, Ukraine. He's our radtastic who has given us more bounce to the ounce than we can possibly deal with. I'm usually a teacher but have been a SAHM for three years. I know quite a bit about RAD, PTSD, GAD, SID, and 'D'yslexia. I'm a documenting fool trying to get the kind of help for my son so he can come home again from RTC.
