Daring Greatly - Book Review

This book by Brene Brown is about daring greatly in life - showing up even when it's hard, participating with our whole selves, and letting ourselves be seen when it's scary to do so. It's about being vulnerable, courageous, and authentic. To find out more about Daring Greatly, please check out the BlogHer Book Club.

Trust Your Eyes - book review

Last time I read a thriller, I declared that it would become a movie, and it did. I think Trust Your Eyes by Linwood Barclay should become a movie as well. It has all the makings of an action / adventure movie, including a couple of R rated scenes. So long as they are careful in casting, it could be made into a successful box office hit.

The reason I was interested in reading Trust Your Eyes was to see if the author accurately portrayed a person with schizophrenia. The main character does hear voices and there were bits and pieces that was consistent with schizophrenia, but overall he seems more on the autism spectrum to me. He has an obsession with maps. He doesn't get jokes, doesn't pick up on social cues, needs prompting to complete tasks not related to his obsession, follows a strict routine and speaks very matter of fact. The best example of this is at the end of the book and gives away too much so unfortunately I can't quote it, but please do check out the book and let me know what you think.
