Scratch that. BabyBoy is ours. BabyGirl's case hit a snafu. Gonna be a few more weeks. And another $300. Celebrating anyway. It's just a small technicality needed at the state level. Hopefully.

Adoption Day Celebrations
How do you celebrate your kids Gotcha Day? I consider the day we actually got each kid, the day they came to live with us, their Gotcha Day but I know most people call the Adoption Finalization Day the Gotcha Day. So how do you celebrate it each year? Do you have a party with cake like a birthday? Do you give a present to the child? Or do you let each child pick their favorite meal for dinner? Go out to eat at the restaurant of their choosing? What about if you adopted a newborn ... do you celebrate the adoption day or not even give it a second thought? I'm looking for ideas because today? Today BabyBoy and BabyGirl are officially, legally, ours.
Scratch that. BabyBoy is ours. BabyGirl's case hit a snafu. Gonna be a few more weeks. And another $300. Celebrating anyway. It's just a small technicality needed at the state level. Hopefully.

*Huge sigh of relief* Congratulations! So happy for you all.
ohhhhhh congratulations! how wonderful ! what a relief! whew! yay yay yay! happy gotcha day!
i have never celbrated a 'gotcha day' but if i did i think i would like.... a family photo every year on this day would be a nice way to celebrate/recognize todays special meaning. or everyone, those who are able, could write a little note or letter to the person of honor and you could put the note into a pretty scrapbook/journal. that would be so nice to have years down the road. Again I am so happy for you. cant wait to hear about your next 'gotcha day' and the upcoming freedom for you family

Praying that it all works out.
We don't celebrate Adoption Day; just her birthday although I think about the day I went to Haiti to get her each year and especially this year. (it's been 6 years)
Exciting news! All my best to you in this new stage of family-hood.
Congrats!! We celebrate our adoption anniversary date- September 23rd for Boy1 and June 24 for Boy2. Those are their days, they get to choose what we eat for dinner that night, what we eat for dessert and what movie we rent to watch as a family. I make them heart shaped chocolate chip pancakes for breakfast with whipped cream topping and we look through the scrapbooks from their big adoption parties. A good time is had by all.
Of course, now we also have to celebrate some special day with the other 2 as well so we chose the dates that we found out we were pregnant- April 12th for The Girl and June 5th for The Toddler. They get the same celebration but we look through my photos from my pregnancy instead of the adoption scrapbooks.
congratulations!!! I can only imagine just how much of a relief it must be to know that it's (almost) finished!
Congrats!! Hoping the little snafu gets taken care of fast!
Congratulations! On BabyBoy being officially your's. He is a lucky little boy.
IT'S FOR REAL - IT'S FOR REAL!!!
I could NOT be more excited for you!
Text me! I have ideas!

The adoptions for our girls finalized im September, and we made a big deal about it, with cake and a party and everything. I think the date of finalization will be the date we celebrate in the future. Maybe you can pick a date in the middle of your two finalization dates for an annual celebration? Congrats, and hang in there... you're almost done!
Thank you, thank you, thank you!
I woke BabyBoy up this morning by saying "Good Morning new First Middle Last name. You are now my son forever and ever. HaHa. You're stuck with me." and he said back "Ha Ha" It was GREAT.
Gosh I remember when we got him at 2 days old weighing 4lbs 10oz. He looked like a pissed off wrinkly old man without teeth. Now, he's a chunk of lead, a line backer in training with blond hair, big saucer-size blue eyes, the energy of Tasmanian devil and the curiosity of Curious George. Melts my heart.
I think we may skip celebrating Gotcha Day. We've got BabyGirl's birthday Dec 15th, Christmas Dec 25th, Valentines Feb 15th and BabyBoy's birthday Feb 18th so that may be enough presents and sweets and celebrations without adding another. Though I do like the idea of getting a family photo taken each year.
Thanks for the support, encouragement, and feedback everyone!
Congratulations!!! Here's hoping that everything goes smoothly with BG's finalization.
